HelpDesk
NPHD provides free counsel for staff, board members, and volunteers of small and emerging nonprofits to advance their organizations by connecting you to subject-matter experts who will provide advice to help you solve problems and drive performance in different areas of management and operations.
We focus on providing expert advice on specific issues related to what is known as capacity building: board development, communications and marketing, data analytics, executive coaching, fundraising, governance, human resources, leadership development, legal services, strategic planning, and website development. In addition, workshops and consultations are provided to nonprofits wanting to apply for New York City Council Discretionary Funding.
The HelpDesk connects nonprofit staff, board members, and volunteers directly with seasoned experts who offer practical, individualized advice to address your organization’s unique challenges. Whether you’re navigating a specific problem, weighing big-picture strategy, or simply need a trusted sounding board, our advisors provide tailored guidance designed to meet you where you are. This personal approach ensures that every organization— no matter its size or stage— receives the tools, clarity, and confidence to take its next step forward.

Whether it’s fundraising, promotion, IT, leadership, or legal issues, our HelpDesk provides targeted guidance across the most critical areas of nonprofit management. We understand that small and emerging organizations often don’t have in-house specialists, which is why our experts step in to fill those gaps. By offering practical solutions, proven strategies, and clear explanations, the HelpDesk helps leaders strengthen their operations, build credibility with funders, and position their organizations for long-term sustainability.

From guiding new organizations through incorporation to helping nonprofits manage complex city funding systems, the HelpDesk delivers solutions that strengthen capacity and expand community impact. We’ve supported groups as diverse as arts collectives, health centers, and family-focused initiative — always with the same goal: to empower nonprofits to do their best work. By providing expertise that translates into real results, the HelpDesk has become a trusted partner in driving growth, increasing visibility, and ensuring that vital community services continue to thrive.
