Age 80, 90–even 100–and on a waiting list for care

We have about 300 frail elderly who are on a waiting list and need transportation for medical appointments. Some just need a safe and reliable ride. Others need a chair lift or an ambulance with a stretcher because they’re too frail to use stairs.

Recently – thanks to the generosity of donors – we were able to take a woman in her 80s off the transportation waiting list who had not been out of her house for 18 months because of stairs.

There are others like her on the list. Can you help?

We also have close to 200 Holocaust survivors on a waiting list for homecare, which means assistance with bathing and dressing, meal preparation, light housekeeping … and companionship.

David* is 93. He was in Auschwitz and Mauthausen death camps. He lost more family and friends than he can count – or I should say, could count. He forgets things now – like whether there’s a pan cooking on the gas stove. He needs our help, so we need your help.

Mr. & Mrs. B* are in their 80s. Born in Ukraine, they put the terror of the war years behind them (both lost most of their close family) to make a life in the United States. Now he has Alzheimer’s. She cared for him for years, but now she’s so frail that she can’t do it alone. They need our help, so we need your help.

On this Giving Tuesday, I’m writing to you in hope that I have reached a compassionate individual who can help us remove frail, elderly seniors – including Holocaust survivors – from our waiting lists. Can you help?

With warmest thanks,

Rabbi Moshe Wiener
