Supplemental Education/Student Support

JCCGCI is proud to be a Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Provider to New York City public school students who attend Title I schools in need of improvement. As an SES provider, we provide free tutoring in math and reading to students in grades 1-8.

Our after-school tutoring program provides a seamless transition from the normal school day of our students. Group tutoring sessions, at a ratio of one tutor to five students, are held at the Brooklyn Public Library, Coney Island branch.

Both regular and special education students are served in our after-school tutoring program. Some of the SES eligible schools include P.S. 90, P.S. 288 and I.S. 303 in Coney Island, and schools across the five boroughs.

The program offers tutoring to groups of no more than five students, with each group meeting three times per week. While all SES providers are expected to adhere to the same professional guidelines, JCCGCI’s program is unusual in using only certified Department of Education teachers for all tutoring in its SES program. Staff meets with parents to discuss student progress and prepare reports to monitor achievements.

Parents and students can obtain enrollment forms for the SES programs from the parent coordinator at their child’s school.
