Happy Holidays from Friendly Visiting!
On December 8th 2013, Friendly Visiting hosted our Annual Senior Celebration. We all shared our thanks to our participating seniors who appreciate and support our services as well as our staff and volunteers. We’re especially thankful and gave praise to our funders, Citymeals-on-Wheels, for allowing our services to continue and reach the many homebound seniors who look forward to their visit every day. Our seniors enjoyed a lovely lunch, mingled with others, enjoyed delightful music and shared the excitement with the winners of our raffle contest!
Dorothy, one of our participating seniors, reminded us this past Sunday of the importance of our work.
Dorothy, who turned 90 years old on December 3rd, has been part of the Friendly Visiting Program for 5 years. At the party, Dorothy expressed her love for the program. “I am alone everyday. My daughter lives in Florida and has her own life and barely calls. The thought of being alone scares me to pieces but knowing that I get a visitor and phone calls from you makes me so happy. Please keep calling me and give me something to look forward to…”
Dorothy’s words alone give us a reason to keep going. We look forward to a bigger and better program in 2014!
